This little roadtrip of ours was not over yet! We decided to cruise up to Cleveland, OH and finish this adventure at the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame!
I was excited to see some of the memorabilia stashed in this museum! Elvis jumpsuits. Led Zeppelin posters. The Beatles original drum set. Guns N Roses (Slash's) top hat. Elton John's piano. And, Bruce Springsteen's famous Born in the USA outfit (white tee, blue jeans, and red handkerchief)!
My initial excitement turned to frustration on the way to Cleveland. We drove through some of the nastiest weather of our entire trip to get to the Hall. Dark clouds and vicious wind really put a damper on our ride up Interstate 71. I felt the need to literally fight the wind to stay vertical on the bike. It was exhausting and stressful for the entire 143 miles (2.5 hours)!
As we cruised into Cleveland, we could see Jacob's Field (the home of baseball's Cleveland Indians) as we crossed the bridge, and the R'nR Hall of Fame was just a few blocks up the road. The Hall literally sits right beside another sports complex...the home of the NFL Cleveland Browns. Also, the Hall of Fame sits adjacent to a beautiful view of Lake Erie.
Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take photos inside the museum to "preserve" the artifacts on display! Looks like if you want to see anything....you'll have to pay the price of admission on your next visit to Cleveland! We did snap a quick photo of Johnny Cash's tour bus which is parked out front of the museum!
Honestly, I enjoyed the Country Music HOF much more than the Rock 'n Roll HOF. I really expected to see and do a lot more inside the museum. I really felt it's almost outdated...and needs a lot of newer technology and interactive exhibits to make the experience more enjoyable. It was about as disappointing as the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. You always have high expectations of certain places....but some just don't pan out the way you have them pictured in your mind!
Oh, well! As we like to say......been there, done that!
