Before leaving Pigeon Forge, we had to make one last stop at Dollywood. This amusement park is nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains and one of the top attractions of the area. The park is organized into ten themed areas - mostly reflecting the historical eras and southern culture of east Tennessee. All the historical-looking "themes" is what made the park so gorgeous in my opinion.
The amusement park was definitely more low-key than the bigger Six Flags or even Hershey Park.
We spent a few hours just walking the park....and finding a few rides that we wanted to try. Timber Canyon was a great area of the park featuring the Mystery Mine coaster....heavily themed as an old abandoned mine shaft.
Our time was limited in the park....we arrived in late afternoon to avoid the crowds....but we would highly recommend visiting this if you're in the eastern Tennessee area. I'd go back just to have a funnel cake and eat the cinnamon bread from Dolly's Grist Mill!
